Nashville Site of Prestigious 34th Annual Meeting
Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen will host high level corporate executives from Japan and counterparts from seven member states in the Southeast in Nashville from Saturday, October 16th through Tuesday, October 19th for the 34th Annual Meeting of the Southeast U.S./Japan and the Japan-U.S. Southeast Associations. During the conference, business executives and government officials from both sides consider and discuss topics related to investment, trade, tourism and corporate opportunities.
Private-sector Chairman of the Southeast-U.S. Japan 2010 Host Committee Jack Bovender, retired Chairman of HCA, will preside and is working closely with Tennessee's coordination team to plan the forthcoming meeting.
What Is The Southeast U.S./Japan Association?
Created in 1976, the Southeast U.S./Japan Association ("SEUS/Japan") was established to promote trade, investment, understanding and friendship between Japan and member states of the southeast U.S. Member states of SEUS/ Japan are Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia and include delegates from both the private and public sectors.
SEUS/Japan has a Japanese counterpart, the Japan-U.S. Southeast Association. The Japanese organization's membership includes Japan's top business leaders and government officials. An annual conference between the two associations is held on a rotational basis in Japan and the southeastern U.S. Also, on a rotational basis, each of the eight states serves as "Host and Co-Host State" for a two-year term and assumes leadership of SEUS/Japan during that period. Tennessee last hosted the meeting in Memphis in 1996 and in Nashville in 1982.
Corporate and community sponsorship opportunities are now available.
Registration materials will be available in June.
