Japanese Dancers to Perform in Memphis and Nashville
Acclaimed dancers from Japan will present traditional Japanese dance, musical performances, educational lectures, and demonstrations in Memphis and Nashville as part of their upcoming U.S. tour. The ten-member performance group consists of one emcee, one director, four dancers and four musicians, playing drum, shamisen, and/or flute. Japanese festivals from the Tokugawa (Edo) period to modern times will be the main theme of their performances.
The first lecture, demonstration and performance are scheduled to take place in Memphis on Wednesday, September 30th at the Memphis Botanic Garden. For performance times and tickets, please click here.
Nashville performances will be held Thursday, October 1st through Saturday, October 3rd, and are free and open to the public. For performance venues and times, please click here.
The group's tour is made possible through generous funding by the Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership and collaboration between the Consulate General of Japan, Memphis Botanic Garden, Belmont University, Metro Nashville Public Library and the Japan-America Society of Tennessee.
