Aisin Joins State Leaders in Announcing Major Expansion
CLINTON, Tenn. ?EThe Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development and Aisin Automotive Casting Tennessee, Inc. announced a $67 million expansion to the company's facility in Clinton, Tenn., doubling the size of its current manufacturing operations in the area and adding approximately 160 new jobs to the community.
Aisin represents the type of company we are targeting to locate and expand in Tennessee,?EGovernor Phil Bredesen said. Their operations provide high skill and good paying jobs for the area, ultimately providing a better quality of life for those in the East Tennessee region. I'm thankful that now even more Tennesseans will have the opportunity to work for such a progressive company.?E
Aisin in Clinton is a sister facility to Aisin Automotive Casting located in London, Ky. and opened in early 2004, employing more than 300 people to respond to expanding local production of Toyota and other customers in the area. The Clinton operation is a full-process, die-casting facility that includes casting, machining and assembly to produce functional engine components, such as water pumps, oil pumps and pistons that will be installed in automotives produced by Aisin customers located throughout the South and Midwest.
Aisin's experience in Tennessee has been a very positive one, largely due to our relationship with the Department of Economic and Community Development, the Governor's office and other local officials,?Esaid Masaharu Goto, president of Aisin Automotive Casting, Tennessee, Inc. They have worked with us to create the best climate for growth and the announcement of this expansion is proof that our operations here are indeed successful.?E
The company held an official groundbreaking for the new expansion on Monday, September 10 at 2 p.m. at the Aisin facility, 221 Frank L. Diggs Drive in Clinton.
Aisin is one of the world's top 10 suppliers of automotive components such as brakes, transmissions, drive train, chassis, body, information-related systems and components and engine-related parts.
