Expanded Things Japanese Now On-Line!
Things Japanese in Tennessee, the interactive, dual-language e-learning tool available through this website, is newly expanded and updated.
Click the designated banner at the top of our homepage or go to http://www.jastn.com/things to experience this visually and verbally engaging introduction to the many ways our daily lives in Tennessee are influenced by and interconnected with Japan's culture, people and industry.
Generously funded by three consecutive grants from Toshiba International Foundation in Tokyo, the project now includes segments on food, industry, exchange programs, arts and crafts, performing arts, literature and libraries, poetry, gardens and more.
Duthie Associates, Inc. (DAI), specialists in the development of custom, interactive e-learning and marketing presentations, originated the scripts and developed the creative and technical elements of the project.
"This project is an excellent introduction to the many things Japan and Tennessee have in common, as well as to things that are uniquely their own," said Robert C. Arnett, president of the JAST Board of Directors. We are grateful to our partners at Toshiba International Foundation and Duthie Associates for their significant contributions and to the many volunteers whose considerable efforts created this exciting new educational resource."
In addition to on-line access, the course may also be downloaded to users' own computers or delivered via CD-ROM, upon request.
Toshiba Corporation is represented locally by Toshiba America Consumer Products in Lebanon, an active member of the Board of Directors of the Japan-America Society of Tennessee.
TIFO was established in April 1989 to promote understanding of Japan through international cultural exchanges and support for the development of international communities, thus contributing to world peace and stability. Since its inception, TIFO has been involved in a wide scope of activities around the world.
